We have some exciting in store events coming up in early 2017 at J&H. A brief description of each can be found below. You can see more local and regional events on our calendar.

January 26th at 6pm – Ragnar 101 Meeting – A representative from Ragnar HQ will be on hand to answer all your questions about running an overnight trail relay. Topics such as gear, overnight camping tips, nutrition, and more will be discussed. Free refreshments and giveaways courtesy of Ragnar! If you haven’t signed up for Ragnar Trail Kentuckiana yet but intend to use code KYM17OUTDOOR and you will receive a $100 J&H gift card courtesy of J&H and Ragnar.

February 16th at 6pm – Hike it Baby Workshop – If you are a parent who enjoys spending time in the outdoors with your kids plan on attending this workshop hosted by the local Hike it Baby chapter. Topics will include winter hiking, hydration, basic tips for helping your kids enjoy hiking and the outdoors, and more.

 February 23rd at 7pm – Meet the Author: Valerie Askren – Join us for a presentation by Valerie Askren, Lexington resident and author of Hike the Bluegrass and Beyond, Fly Fishing Kentucky, and her latest Backpacking Kentucky. Val will share some of her favorite hiking and fishing spots in Kentucky and answer questions about any of the areas mentioned in her books. Come spend an hour with the person who literally wrote the book on hiking in Kentucky!

March 23rd at 6pm – Outdoor Photography Workshop – Join us for an outdoor photography workshop presented by Josh Lowe. You may know Josh for his work on Instagram under his handle @the_lowe_life. Josh will offer tips on lighting, composition, equipment, and more. He will also answer any questions you have on how to take great pics in the outdoors. Finally, all attendees will be entered into a drawing to win a FREE print of Josh’s work courtesy of Josh.

March 30th at 6pm – Learn About The Sheltowee Trace – Come learn about the most popular trail in Kentucky, the Sheltowee Trace National Recreation Trail. A representative from the Sheltowee Trace Association will be on hand to talk about their organization and the work they do to support the trail. They will also answer any questions you have about The Sheltowee.
