Goodr Sunglasses

Overpriced sunglasses are so yesterday. Besides, does anyone really notice you've dropped a couple hundred dollars to look good while you protect your sight from the sunlight?

Rather than buying impractical, impossible sunglasses that cost way too much green and get lost way too easily, Goodr offers a full line of fun, fashionable eyewear, all priced at $25. That's right, no matter which style suits you, $25 is all you'll pay. But don't expect to find sunglass styles that look like they came out of the back storage room of a convenience store. Goodr are gooder--uh, better--than that. The only thing Goodr eyewear has in common with cheap, outdated shades is the price. Did we mention each pair is only $25?

The Goodr story started simply enough. One day Goodr founder Stephen Lease glanced in the mirror after a run and gasped at his reflection. According to Lease, his first thought was that he looked like the biggest tool in the world. All the accessories and gear he'd donned to look like an avid runner just made him look ridiculous. He had to ask himself how it had come to this.

The one thing that stood out to Lease above the rest was what he described as, "dorky sunglasses." As he pondered the error of his ways when it came to overpriced, over-the-top eyewear, Lease had a revelation. Most of the serious runners refused to be taken in by the flashy, luxury brands. Instead, they opted for cheap shades that looked as though they had been picked up at a truck stop.

That's when it hit him--there was a huge market opportunity to bring stylish, fun and functional eyewear to runners at an affordable price. No longer would they feel the need to go to the Love's Travel Shop on the edge of town just to find their next pair of shades. Goodbye gas station goggles, hello fun, functional and stylish sunglasses at gas station prices. It was that revelation that planted the seed for Goodr.

Lease assembled a small team consisting of himself and two others to bring his idea to fruition. Together they created the Goodr brand based on the premise of creating $25 active sunglasses for everyone. Every one of the Goodr sunglass styles was created to support their dedication to what they identified as the four F's of the Goodr foundation: fun, functional, fashionable and 'ffordable. OK, so they kind of fudged on that last one, but that hasn't slowed them down. The team decided it needed a mascot and settled on what Lease describes as a drunk, kleptomaniac flamingo named Carl--what else?

The rest, as they say, is history. This was the sixth venture for Lease, who had already created five failed companies before hitting upon a winner. The brand quickly grew and the team along with it. Today, 100-plus employees are dedicated to the Goodr brand, headquartered in Inglewood, Calif. From its humble beginnings, Goodr has expanded to more than 2,500 stores in over 20 countries. Along the way, Goodr has won multiple product awards. But despite all its success, owner Lease says the company focuses on the same thing it has from the beginning: putting a smile on customer faces for just $25.
